We’ve organized private boat parties for groups of around 10 people all the way up to 100 guests, from birthdays and bachelor parties to international groups and private celebrations.
Here’s what the experience actually looks like.
Your Party Starts Before You Reach Xochimilco
One of the biggest advantages of organizing a private Xochimilco experience with us is transportation.
Depending on the size of your group, we can arrange Mercedes Sprinter vans or buses to pick everyone up in Mexico City, take you to Xochimilco and bring you back after the party.
That means no splitting the group between Ubers, no trying to coordinate multiple drivers and no figuring out how everyone is getting home afterward.
And the ride doesn’t have to feel like transportation.
The party can start as soon as you get on board.
Put on some music, get everyone together and enjoy the ride south before even stepping onto your trajinera.
A Trajinera Personalized for Your Group
When you arrive in Xochimilco, your trajinera is already waiting for you.
For private events, the boat can be personalized with the name of your group, birthday, celebration or whatever message you want.
It’s a small detail, but walking onto a colorful Xochimilco trajinera with your own name across the front makes the experience immediately feel like your party rather than just another boat ride.
For larger events, we can organize multiple trajineras so bigger groups can experience Xochimilco together.
Drinks? Already Cold.
Nobody wants to arrive at Xochimilco and immediately start searching for ice, beer and drinks.
We prepare the coolers before your group arrives.
Depending on your package and group size, we can include cold beer, water, tequila and ready-to-drink beverages, including products from partners such as Topo Chico and Bacardí-Cola when available.
We also include bottles of Maestro Dobel tequila for the group.
And yes, we like to start the boat party properly:
with a round of tequila shots.
The bottles remain available for the group during the experience, and if you want something specific that isn’t included in your package, you’re also welcome to bring additional alcohol of your choice.
A Proper Mexican Taquiza – Made in Xochimilco
This might be one of our favorite parts of the private experience.
Instead of bringing generic catering from somewhere else in Mexico City, the food is prepared locally by the same families we work with in Xochimilco.
The women who cook for our groups prepare a traditional taquiza, served warm when it’s time to eat.
Depending on the package, you can expect a selection of tacos accompanied by rice, warm tortillas and several homemade salsas.
Everything arrives in traditional serving pots so your group can build their own tacos directly on the boat.
It feels much more like a real Mexican gathering than standard event catering, because that’s essentially what it is.
Your Music, Your Party
A private party shouldn’t come with somebody else’s playlist.
We provide JBL PartyBox sound systems, so your group gets powerful sound on the trajinera without having to bring speakers or worry about batteries.
You control the music.
Connect your phone, put on your playlist and play whatever fits your group, house, reggaeton, techno, throwbacks, Latin music or whatever inevitably gets everyone dancing after a few tequila shots.
For us, good sound makes a huge difference.
There’s a big difference between music playing quietly from a small Bluetooth speaker and having a proper sound system on a boat full of your friends.
And Then Xochimilco Does the Rest
One of the best things about Xochimilco is that you never really know what you’re going to encounter on the canals.
Other trajineras pass by selling food, drinks and souvenirs. You’ll see boats full of families celebrating birthdays, groups of friends partying and, of course, floating mariachi bands.
If your group sees a mariachi boat, you can stop them and hire them directly for a few songs.
Mariachi is not included in our standard private packages because every group wants something different, but there are usually plenty of musicians on the canals and you can choose how many songs you want.
Sometimes those spontaneous moments end up being the highlight of the entire party.
More Than Just a Boat Party
Your private Xochimilco experience also connects you with the rest of the La Fête Sauvage community in Mexico City.
Guests receive exclusive guest-list access to our Sunset Music Sessions, our Sunday rooftop party in the city.
So if your group is spending the weekend in Mexico City, Xochimilco doesn’t necessarily have to be the end of the party.
It can be the beginning of the weekend.

We’ve hosted everything from intimate groups of around 10 friends to events approaching 100 people.
Private Xochimilco parties work especially well for:
Birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, wedding groups, company outings, international groups, hostel groups, study-abroad groups and friends traveling through Mexico City together.
For smaller groups, one trajinera and a Sprinter may be all you need.
For bigger celebrations, we can coordinate several boats, buses, drinks, food and logistics so the whole event works as one experience.
The goal is the same regardless of size:
you shouldn’t have to spend your party coordinating your party.
